no I never did it
But I sure know how to fuck
I'll be your bad girl, I'll prove it to you
I can't promise that I'll be good to you
Cause I had some issues, I won't commit
No, not having it
But at least I can admit that I'll be bad to you
Yeah, I'll be good in bed, but I'll be bad to you

Dark, the entire room was dark. Even as the months trudged relentlessly into autumn, the days and nights maintained their summer warmth for just a few weeks longer. Ji Hye opened her eyes slowly to a cold sweat, not only of her own but also of the male body that was pressed up close against her, one of his chiseled arms snaked possessively around her. The air conditioning roared on behind them, otherwise their activities last night would have caused the temperature to escalate to a deathly unbearable level.

Part of her wanted to keep sleeping: the man’s bed was worlds softer and more comfortable than the floor that Ji Hye slept on with Ayako, but the thought of seeing him once more when the sun had come to scare away the shadows was enough to convince Ji Hye to get moving. Even with that aside, she had a priority of ensuring her older sister would not catch on to her illicit and self-degrading work, which meant she couldn’t get home too late in the night if Ji Hye were to use her cleaning job at Omega as a cover.

The rectangular numbers on the digital clock in the room flashed the time 3:37. Carefully the young woman lifted the thin sheets off of her nude body and wiggled out of the man’s arms, trying her best not to wake him. Once she made it free to the edge of the bed, she ran her hands through her long hair and sighed quietly. It was slightly damp, and she was sure her appearance was a complete mess.

Her gaze floated out into the sea of darkness that was his bedroom. It was difficult to maneuver through, but Ji Hye managed to tiptoe her way over to the purse she had carried in with her, still left strewn across a chair in the same position as when she had tossed it there only a few hours prior. Glancing down at the nearby table, she picked up the thick wad of cash that was promised to her, the only thing that made this kind of work redeeming in her mind, and shoved it into her bag. When she got home, she would add it to the small fortune she was saving in secret for her dream of attending dance school.

A mild search of the premises was required before she could collect her bra and panties, but once they were found somewhere on the floor, she put them on and proceeded out into the bathroom. Flipping on the light would have helped her see, but the risk of drawing too much attention persuaded her to use the sink in the dark, scooping water to her lips in an attempt to get that salty taste to leave her mouth. At least she didn't have to do much to her hair or face, since the appearance of sweat and messy hair would hopefully be more convincing that she had just come home from a hard night of work—cleaning work, that was.

Once she was finished, Ji Hye made her way back into the bedroom and headed straight for her bag. All she needed to do was put her maid uniform on and she could leave; of course, she had been contracted to spend the entire night here, but she supposed now that the most provocative act was over, the rest didn’t really matter in her client’s mind. Maybe she was doing him a favor as well by disappearing before he awoke, or so she thought.

It was a still night in the Omega Entertainment building. The light from the windows had slowly faded as the sky became inked with darkness, the sun fading from the rooftops of the city. On many nights trainees and idols alike forced themselves to persevere through their dance practices for a multitude of hours after sun down, but not tonight. Tonight the ward of the building containing the practice rooms was closed down for cleaning, and that meant only one person would be dancing in them: Baek Ji Hye, their maid.

It wasn’t easy for her to find opportunities to use the rooms, since doing so was in absolute violation of her job’s conditions and responsibilities. Sometimes she had to sneak out of the shabby one-bedroom apartment she shared with Ayako in the wee hours of the morning, illegally using her master key to poke into the entertainment building and see if it were vacant for her to use; if any overachieving performers lingered, she posed the cover of being on the janitorial night shift, but if not—if not a soul was in sight—then Ji Hye would claim one of the rooms to herself and dance until the sun was just about to rise, disappearing from the premises before even it could catch her.

The risk was great, but it was well worth it. After a hard life of poverty, abuse, loss, and guilt, dancing was the only thing that kept her going. She had her coworkers, her friends—no family really, except for Ayako who was like a sister—in general, people who cared about her, but even so Ji Hye couldn’t bring herself to accept their concern; she just didn’t deserve it. The day her siblings had branded her a selfish traitor to their family and turned their back on her struck the young girl deeper than what anyone’s kind words could ever hope to heal, and so she didn’t have people to live for—in the sense that living was the opposed option to killing oneself—she only had dancing and her dream to pursue it.

The only part of being an idol-in-training that she missed was dancing. Although at the time her manager who had plucked her from her poor family and given her so much opportunity seemed like an angel, she found rather quickly through his physical and sexual abuse that such things came with a heavy price. Since then she has only associated idolhood with pain, and sometimes even pitied the trainees she saw when she wondered what they had to do behind closed doors to get where they were. But there was something about dancing—about submitting one's body and letting the music guide it into place—that was enlivening for her, and the girl had good rhythm. Her dream was to enter a dance academy one day.

Naturally, that meant exceptional talent and rigorous practice: the first Ji Hye had—although her modesty never let her say it out loud—and the second she was starved to get. That night she had preemptively volunteered herself to work the night shift and had even come to work early to shoo out all of the idols and trainees from the section of the building where the practice rooms were. With the area completely restricted to all but her, she spent the first few hours of the night doing her job, but once the sweeping was done, i.e. once she was certain the time was late enough that no one could possibly come in and interrupt her, she changed out of her uniform and hooked her mp3 player up to the speakers of one of the larger rooms.

Now donning an old loose sweater and a pair of black spandex shorts, Ji Hye stood barefoot in the center of the dance room, her head down and long chestnut hair all around her. The song began in seconds, flowing through her body like electricity as she caught each of its notes, moving her body powerfully to and in between them. As the tune pushed forward, she began to expand her movements across the wooden floor, dancing in a smooth blend of ballet, contemporary, popping, and some breaking.

“This is how I show my love. I made it in my mind because…I blame it on my A.D.D baby.”

It was an American song, one she had found when searching through the internet one day, and it spoke to her: it wasn’t so much the lyrics (since she didn’t have a steady grasp of the English language) but the beat that sang to her soul. As the bass surged, it propelled her figure through the air, moving in perfect synchronization with the rhythm of the song.

“This is how an angel cries. I blame it on my own sick pride… I blame it on my A.D.D baby.”

She spun and popped her body to the music, letting all her limbs free and extending them meaningfully in fast, difficult movements. Each motion was heavy with emotion, all the emotions that Ji Hye kept buried deep within her; now that there was no one to see, she let them free like her long brown hair cutting through the air with every shake of her head and hips.

“Sail…sail…”

She continued to move until the choreography—all of which she had designed herself—was over, at which point Ji Hye collapsed onto her knees breathing heavily. It was tough and exhausting, but this is what she lived for: the one thing she gave to herself and shared with no one else. So caught up in her dance and the loud music, she couldn’t have possibly heard anyone if they had come in (not that she would have ever in a million years thought anyone would come at this hour). Once the song faded to a close, all that she heard in the room was her own frequent gasps for air.

When Ji Hye wasn’t sweeping the floors of Omega Entertainment, she had another job at a popular little coffee shop in Itaewon called inifiniTEA. Unlike Omega where she was the youngest of all the cleaning staff and rather out of place amongst the older ahjummas, at infinitTEA Ji Hye felt the most comfortable being herself. Many of her coworkers were still in high school or their first years of university, so they looked up to her as an older sister and treated her respect (although Ji Hye always dismissed their praises). In return, she took responsibility for them—almost like a manager although that wasn’t her title—and put out her best effort to keep the café running smoothly and the customers elevated and content.

By 10 o’clock that morning, it was always warm (thanks to the summer months quickly approaching) but the clouds seemed unwilling to let the sun shine through. The sky was white like snow, and Ji Hye couldn’t help but think it might possibly rain soon, her gaze locked on the window as she dropped red bean topping onto a blended coffee. Hopefully it wouldn’t be at the same time as she was walking across town to her next job, she thought with a small frown.

Picking up a plastic lid in her hands, she snapped it over the drink and passed it along with a smile to the customer who was waiting by the counter. ”Thank you sir! Enjoy your coffee,” she wished in her most polite language. Her eyes followed the man out the door before glancing around for her next possible task. No one was at the cash register, and so Ji Hye made her way over to its station just as another customer came up to order. An uplifting smile sat neatly on her painted lips.

”Hello! Welcome to infiniTEA. What can I prepare for you today?”

-She is a queen of secrets. Behind those innocent doll eyes is a dark past that Ji Hye keeps bundled up and out of her peers' eyes.

-Ji Hye was born in a small town to a poor, but large, family. She has one older brother, a twin brother, and a younger sister.

-When she was 11, she was scouted to join an entertainment company. Without considering it possibly being a scam, her parents sent her away for a better life. While she did receive training in singing, dancing, and foreign languages, Ji Hye also endured sexual abuse from her manager for years.

-The entertainment company demanded her family cover the "cost of training" for which her cousins lent a large sum of money. Ji Hye is still repaying her debut to them to this day.

-When she was 15, her parents and older sister were killed in a car crash, and her other siblings were injured. Ji Hye then quit the music industry and was sent to an orphanage in Seoul.

-Upon reaching adulthood, she and her closest friend got their own apartment and are now making ends meet together by working multiple low-end jobs.

-The only part of being an idol that Ji Hye enjoyed was dancing. She is in love with dance, but that's a secret she doesn't share with anyone.

-She has the grace, eloquence, and charm of an English princess despite her pauper background.

-Her guilt over her parents' and sister's deaths, for not being a bigger part of their lives earlier, for bringing financial burden to her family, for quitting idolhood, and for continuously lying to her unnie, keeps Ji Hye from allowing herself any happiness in her life. She's ashamed of finding enjoyment in things like dancing, because she feels as though she should suffer, which is why she lies about them and hides them.

-She currently works at Omega Entertainment as one of the cleaning staff, infiniTEA cafe as a barista, and at club RED as hostess (in more ways than one...). The last job she keeps on low key, not wanting her unnie to find out about it.

-In an average month, her money goes towards paying the rent and bills, making payments on her debt to her cousins, and sending whatever she has left to her siblings. The money she makes from her secret job (at club RED) Ji Hye hides away with a dream to one day attend a dance academy.

-Her smile can brighten any room, but with those same lips she compulsively lies to cover up her past. No one can know about her time spent training as an idol (or the horrors she endured there).

-The sexual abuse in her early childhood left her with a twisted view of men. She doesn't have the ability to refuse them and doesn't think she's worth anything more than being a playtoy--if she gets paid for it, all the better.
-Her biggest secret of all is that she uses the practice rooms in Omega Entertainment at night when no one is around to continue her dance training in solitude, but even that will soon be unraveled.

Friends

Ji Hye is a kind, sweet, and caring young woman who would make friends easily. There are some topics she would steer clear of, but Ji Hye always does it with grace and a smile that radiates genuinity--even when it's not. She would never let her friends see her upset and would much rather make up a lie to keep everyone in good spirits.

Places she could meet people could be either her coffee shop, around Omega Entertainment (dorms, halls, etc), or on the streets of Seoul.

Enemies

Her siblings and cousins might be her enemies (depending on whoever picks them up as chars), but otherwise she probably wouldn't have many. Only perhaps someone who can sense something off about her undying gleaming demeanor.

Lovers

She has a final, but their relationship will in no way be perfect. Ji Hye currently sleeps with club RED's male clientele upon request to save for her dance school, and so a one night stand or something wouldn't be out of the question. Just beware that she's easy, won't fight you, but the lack of luster in her eyes might leave you with a heavy conscience the next morning.

It had been a year since Ji Hye had begun employment at Omega Entertainment as one of their cleaning staff. It wasn’t the twenty-one-year-old’s only job, however it was an important one because it held the key to her future aspiration: her dream of joining a dance academy. No one at her workplace knew of her background in idol training; to them she was just another girl desperate enough for money to take on a job as unglamorous as housekeeping. There was no reason for anyone to suspect her of illegally using the rooms at night for dance practice—they didn’t even know she could dance—so they didn’t suspect her.

But it wasn’t all perks for Ji Hye: she did have to put with up the sassy antics of the Omega Entertainment idols and trainees. There was little interaction between her and them when she was lucky enough to clean the main building, but there were times when she got assigned to dormitory upkeep, and then there were always problems with ‘My room is still dirty’ and ‘It’s too hot in here’ and ‘I need more blankets’. Even the trainees had already grown accustom to viewing others as below them, and that worried Ji Hye for their behavior after debut.

But she was rarely frustrated by their behavior. None of them knew that she had gone through the same struggles they were currently facing…and much more…enough to turn her away fiercely from the idea of ever becoming an idol again. Sometimes she watched them with pity, wondering what sort of hidden anguish they had to endure behind closed doors to get to where they were, but she never compared it to her own nor treated them unkindly. She simply took their abusive words and continued on with her work.

Some of the trainees took it a bit too far. That was the problem with being passive: once they learned just how far they could push her, they didn’t take any steps back. Ji Hye noticed it had turned into a game for some of the male trainees, trying to show off in front of their friends what they could do with a girl who wouldn’t fight back.

That afternoon Ji Hye was alone in an empty hallway, having just emerged from cleaning out the bathrooms. With the back of her gloved hand, she swiped a few rogue strands of hair out of her face before replacing her palm atop her cleaning cart and pushing it along down the hall. It took quite a bit of strength to move the cart overloaded with supplies, but thankfully her dancing had given Ji Hye a fit figure and well-muscled arms. She was just about to head into the studio for her daily sweep when a shout froze the young woman in her tracks.

”Noona! Where are you going?!”

The sound of shoes against tile was approaching behind her as Ji Hye felt the hair on the back of her neck prickle up. She already knew who it was: Kong Seung Bae. Of all the trainees who made a hobby out of harassing her, he was the one who found it the most satisfying. And the sound of multiple voices, she realized he brought friends.

”Why didn’t you wait for me?” The younger male asked, his smooth voice creeping unpleasantly into her ear as his figure came around the side of hers. One hand reached out to her shoulder and gently pushed her away from the cart, Ji Hye reacting like a paper doll, against the wall. ”You didn’t come clean my room today. You know I miss you when you’re not around.” His hand moved upward to grace the fabric of the bandana she wore and brush more hair away from her face. Lovingly, as if they were lovers.

Ji Hye’s eyes bore into his soulless black ones. Behind him, she could see his two friends standing there grinning. As usual, she was just a sacrifice to his show of authority. ”Please don’t do this,” she begged, never having wanted anything to do with him in the first place. ”Not here. Someone might see.” The least he could do was not threaten her job.

”Do what? I just wanted to say hi because I didn’t see you today.” His smirk suggested otherwise.

Ji Hye knew he didn’t come track her down just to speak some artificially sweet words. His hand slid down her uniform and stopped at her waist while Ji Hye squeezed her eyes shut. There were too many bad memories that she couldn’t escape. If only her unnie were here; Ayako would never let anyone take advantage of her like this. ”Please don’t, “ she whispered, though well aware that words didn’t mean anything.
