What was she going to do? Shim Jimin had made plans to meet with a friend who had agreed to pose for a portrait project she needed to complete for her art class. They had made plans to meet after class so Jimin could sketch out the portrait in her sketch book, which she planned to later transfer to a small canvas in order to paint it. It was going to take at least a couple of days to finish painting; she always tried to be as exact as she could in getting every little detail just right. And of course there was also the time it was going to take to use her smaller drawing in her sketchbook as a reference point as she expanded it to a canvas, then cleaning it up that rough sketch before she could actually get to painting it in the first place. The way she had it mapped out in her head, she really only had one day to get the initial sketch created, but much to her dismay, her friend was nowhere to be found.

Sure, it probably would have been far easier to just get a picture as her reference than to find someone willing to sit still long enough for her to draw a portrait of them. But personally she always found that process to just feel lifeless and empty. So now she had no idea what to do! Jimin had spent a good several minutes trying to find her friend, but the other girl were nowhere to be sound. Sighing, she leaned back against the wall behind her and blew out a breath of air upwards, causing her bangs to fly up slightly before floating back down to their original position. Technically class was over for the day, though most of her class was likely going to be there for another couple of hours, studying away. Jimin supposed that she should have been joining them, but she really needed to figure out a way to make sure she could complete her project in time. Besides, she could always just study at home later, so it wasn't really a huge issue if she opted out of the elongated study session.

Her eyes closed, lips pursing together in a small pout as she tried to think of what to do. Well... She supposed if one of her parents were home maybe they would be willing to pose for her. Or she could always try going to her aunt Joo Hyun and uncle Sang Kyu's home to see if they- or any of their five kids- were willing to do the same. But then again, this was her uncle's family after all. The chances of any of them holding still long enough for her to get any work done where slim to none. So then, what? She had already tried to ask a couple of other people, but everyone seemed busy. This was awfully frustrating!

Groaning quietly, she pushed herself away from the wall and returned to her classroom in order to get her things. Sure enough, most of the class seemed intent on staying there to study, but luckily she wasn't the only one who was opting to leave now. That was good, at least she hadn't stuck out too much as she gathered up her things and went to her locker at the back of the room to put everything in her book bag and leave. Jimin pushed a lock of hair behind her ear as she left the room and made her way through the school until finally passing through the main doors. Well, the fresh air was certainly nice, if nothing else! Maybe it would be wise to just put the dilemma out of her mind for a little while, and to come back to it later with a clear head. Sure, that was a good idea! So with that plan in mind, she headed outside.

In the meantime, the teenager had opted to spend a little time in one of the nearby parks, just for a chance to enjoy the fresh air after being stuck indoors all day. Jimin had never really liked staying all cooped up for long, it made her feel antsy and restless. But eventually she decided it was time to go home, to get some homework done and try to figure out what to do about her art project. If she didn't at least get the initial sketch done day, her entire schedule would be screwed up and then what would she do? For now, she just needed to get home and get some work done. Since she had chosen not to stay behind and study like most of her class was doing, she at least couldn't slack off too much at home.

When she got home and punched in the key code to get inside, Jimin was surprised to find the large apartment eerily quiet. No voices, no music. Just... Nothing at all. Weird. "Appa? Omma? Anyone home?" the girl called as she kicked off her shoes and stepped further inside. The silence that greeted her was all that she needed to confirm that no, there was no one else home at the moment. She sighed. Well that was just lovely. Peace and quiet was nice and all, but that was another since she disliked almost as much as being stuck indoors for too long - being alone for extended periods of time. Today just kept getting better and better by the looks of it. Oh well.

The first thing she did was go to her bedroom, change out of her uniform, and into a pair of jeans and a blue and white top with some yellow stars on it. From there the girl flopped down on her bed while she flipped through the contacts on her phone. There had to be someone that she could find to help her with this. As she scrolled through the names, she kept coming to stop at one, only to scroll past it, go back to it, and so on. Over and over she hesitated over that one particular name before finally Jimin had to relent. There was clearly a reason she kept going back to Choi Young Hwa's name in her contacts. Surely he would be willing to pose for her while she drew him, right? Knowing Young Hwa, he would probably be more than happy to have someone use him as a model. Jimin smiled to herself. That boy's head did not need to get any bigger. With her mind made up, she quickly starting to type out a text message to her friend. Before hitting send, she read it over one final time to be sure there weren't any spelling errors or anything of that nature.

Oppa~ Can you come over for a little while? No one's home and I really need help with a project. Please? =^-^=

Now she just had to wait.

yeah i'm a bad boy
but none of these other chicks ain't got nothing on you
“Come look for me, if you want a good time. I’m a bad boy, but at heart I’m a good guy…”

A satisfied grin twisted over Young Hwa’s lips as the sound of his own voice burst through the computer speakers in between the beat of the track he’d just produced. Hanging his head down to rest atop his folded arms on the countertop, the 15-year-old boy let his focus absorb the music. He was reviewing it for the last time with his tall figure leaning against the Just Music records reception desk.

“Imma bad boy, but at heart, Imma good guy, Imma bad boy, but at heart, Imma good guy,” the words played back in a higher pitch as the song sped up towards the build up of a drop. The young DJ nodded his head into his arms. Beats tightened underneath a couple lines of lyric that his voice kept repeating in an assortment of pitches. Eventually the rest faded to just vocal for the last bar and then…

The bass dropped. “Yeah,” Young Hwa blurted out proudly, leaning back on his heels as his hands held tightly onto the countertop so that he could stretch out his arms successfully. He smiled at the floor for a moment before straightening up his figure and looking to the women on the other side of the counter for their reaction. The smirk on his face proved he expected it to be a positive one.

“Omo! It’s so catchy, did you really make this?” One of the girls swooned, swiveling in her roller chair to fall against her co-worker.

“Of course he did! He’s got music in his blood just like his appa,” the other one retorted, almost protectively as she pushed an eager smile toward the young teen. “It’s really good.”

It was hard to talk over the song, so he motioned for her to lower the volume on the computer before returning her smile. “Thanks, it’s the first one I’m gonna release as a single. Actually it’s a remix of something I made for my mixtape, but no one has to know that, right?” The two older girls nodded in unison.

Young Hwa knew he was a lucky kid: he wasn’t the only 15-year-old with talent in music production, but not everyone had a famous father and uncle who owned a music label and thus granted him access to recording studios and their full equipment capacity from an early age. By the time he was nine, Young Hwa was already up to speed on the most prominent production software in the industry and his creativity just took off like a rocket from there. It started with just bits and scraps of melodies and beats that he thought sounded good together, but soon those bits were compiled into songs and those songs compiled into a mixtape. When he was 12, he showed his dad all the music he’d made and kept in a special folder on one of the company’s desktop computers, and his father urged him to release them to the public. That was where Young Hwa’s privilege diverged from that of an average high school kid: whereas other producers had difficulty spreading their songs further than their Soundcloud accounts, Young Hwa had a whole promotion team lined up and ready to make arrangements for his debut as an electronic musician.

But it wasn’t all reward and no work, either. Having themselves grown up working to the bone at Hye Shin’s father’s vegetable stand, Jae Beom and his wife didn’t want their children to grow up spoiled and living off of their fortune without knowing the struggle that it took to earn it. They put both Young Hwa and Young Ae to work in Jae Beom’s and Min Ki’s music label early on, starting them off with small tasks such as delivering messages and papers between staff members and then eventually having them clean the rooms and help the receptionists take calls. That was how Young Hwa got to know the ladies up front so well, and—unsurprisingly—had earned himself quite a loyal fan base.

They continued to chat with him, the younger male politely entertaining their conversation for the time being. Brrp! A new text message: his phone chirped from his back pocket. Slowly Young Hwa reached behind him to pull it out and read it, his face immediately breaking into a wide smile. “Sorry, noonas, I have to go,” he announced with a quick glance at the women across the counter. With his foot he kicked up the small skateboard he’d left leaning against the base of the desk and caught it in his hand.

Shim Jimin was truly an extraordinary girl. Not only was she sweet, smart, and gracious to just about all of the kids in school, but she was also breathtakingly gorgeous. But in all honestly, neither of those qualities were what sold Young Hwa on her after recognizing his initial attraction; if he’d wanted a pretty nice girl he could have had his pick from just about any of the ones at their school. Ever since he was born—rapper J-Bomb and actress Ahn Hye Shin’s son—just about every female in the world gawked over him and how “cute” and “handsome” and “just like his dad” he was. It was nice and had fostered Young Hwa’s confidence to grow to quite a superfluous level, but girls like that were boring. Jimin was the only girl who’d ever kept walking past him without stopping to stare, and that shook something inside of him.

Obviously by their pouting faces, the receptionists were quite upset at the boy dashing off towards the front doors. One of them stood up and called after him, “Young Hwa-yah! Do you have a girlfriend?!”

“Not yet,” he turned and replied smugly on his way out, pausing only momentarily to flash her a distant smirk before turning again toward the doors and pushing them out of his way.

Don’t worry, Oppa is coming to save you! was his text back to her.

With some running momentum to start, Young Hwa lept onto his skateboard and directed his way down the streets of Gangnam speedily. It took only about 20 minutes to make it out of the bustling part of the city and out to the residential area where Jimin lived. He dragged his foot against the road to stop the motion of the skateboard just as he came to the gate surrounding her home; it was unlocked, allowing him to walk right in after swooping down to pick up the board.

Normally someone would have walked up to the front door of the house and knocked, but Young Hwa had a good reason to be wary. It turned out that her father happened to be one of his parents’ closest friends, and he knew the man had an unbiased vendetta for against all teenage boys who so much as looked in his daughter’s direction. Walking right up there would not have been wise.

Instead, Young Hwa stalked around to the side of the building where he knew Jimin’s bedroom window to be. It was true that she had mentioned to him that no one was home except her, but perhaps there was a section of Young Hwa’s brain that wanted to exercise the parkour skills his uncle Sang Kyu taught him that allowed that detail to slip his mind. He carefully set his skateboard out of sight against the wall before backing up a good amount of meters away from it. A deep breath. A grin garnished his features as he eyed his opponent up, and then he took off. Just like his uncle taught him, he jumped at the right moment and pushed off the wall with the ball of his foot, allowing him to gain enough air to reach out and grab the ledge of her window. Hanging there, it was a struggle to hold himself up with one hand while knocking on the glass with the other, but Young Hwa did it. And he did it with a big grin in anticipation of seeing his little flower.

It came as no surprise when her phone buzzed beside her on the bed just moments after she had sent off a message to Young Hwa. Sure enough, the incoming message was from the very person she expected it to be from. His choice of wording made the girl roll her eyes, but it also got her to smile. Young Hwa was such a dork, he really was. He could act all cocky and tough, but Jimin couldn't ever seem to take him seriously like that. Not when he did things like made it sound like he was some knight in shining armor come to rescue a princess from some terrible beast. Then again, the fact that he was so willing to come by really was saving her in a sense. His presence would mean she could get to work on this art project finally, and she was definitely grateful for that.

Figuring he was already on his way and not watching to distract him, the fourteen year old opted not to respond to his text and instead glanced at the clock on her phone instead. Knowing Young Hwa, it was probably safe to assume that he was coming from his father and uncle's company. He had come by from there often enough that she had a good idea of about how long it would probably end up taking him to get to her home. So while she was waiting, she decided to kill time by straightening up a few things. It wasn't that she felt any need to impress him when he arrived or anything of that nature. But at the same time, it just felt better to make sure that things were in order. Besides, the last thing she needed was to run of the risk of one of her undergarments being left out by the time he got there! That would be embarrassing.

It didn't take long for her to clean up the few things that had been out of place in her room. That was easy. After making sure that her sketchbook and the set of pencils she wanted to use were out, Jimin left her bedroom to get some water while she waited. That and this way she would be able to hear easier if he knocked on the door or rang the bell. She had no reason to think that Young Hwa would show up any other way than by the door. It was safe after all, her father wasn't home. He was really the only what that needed worrying about, too; her mother was far more relaxed when it came to the teenage boy being around. Of course, because they were teenagers and all even her mother preferred it if Jimin didn't have any boys over unless she or Jong Hyun was around, but the girl was sure it would be fine. He'd come by, she would use him as her model, and then he'd be on his way. Right?

Maybe not. She knew the chances of getting rid of Young Hwa quickly were slim to none. Jimin wasn't a fool; she knew that from time to time boys took notice of her. But whether that was because of her or just because it was well-known her parents were a famous producer and actress, she wasn't sure- nor did she ever get to find out considering her father protectiveness made it virtually impossible for things like dating to ever happen. However, no boy she had met was as persistent as it felt like Young Hwa always was. Even this, when he had been so quick and ready to come by to help her with her project, was a perfect example of that. And honestly, she didn't always know why. It wasn't like she actively tried to make him think she had any interest him. Just the opposite, she was far more likely to tease him and make it seem like he was some kind of burden she had the misfortune of putting up with than to make him think she liked him. He got enough of that from all the other girls in school. Someone had to keep him in check, to prevent his head from swelling too much! Might as well be her.

So she told herself at least. But in truth, the teenager did also have to admit that she kind of liked the attention he paid her. And he wasn't really that bad she supposed. His confidence was admirable even if it was a little over the top. And he really did have a good heart somewhere beneath that smug attitude and cocky smile of his. That stupid little smile he had that she would never, not in a million years, admit she liked getting to see. Speaking of that arrogant nut, where was he? Jimin checked one of the monitors mounted on the wall to see if anyone was at the door. Nope, nothing there. How strange. Well, surely he would be around soon!

In the meantime, the girl wandered back to her room and set her bottle of water down on her desk. She hummed quietly to herself, one of the latest songs her father had been working on. They always managed to get caught in her head at the most random moments of time, but it wasn't without reason. If he ever brought his work home with him it was normal to hear his songs playing from his office. And she had a habit of dropping by Orion, Co. fairly frequently if no one was home and she couldn't reach anyone to keep her company at the time. Being alone for long intervals of time had just never sat well with Jimin; when she was small it had started out as a strong but random and irrational fear of being left alone, but as she grew older it had simply shifted into something she didn't care for. The only time being alone ever really made her nervous anymore was if it was nighttime and everyone else was gone for whatever reason.

But there was no need to worry about that right now! It was still light outside, and there was someone on his way to keep her preoccupied at least for a little while. Speaking of which, Jimin picked her phone up from her bed and looked at the clock on it again. Hm, he should be here soon! Where had that boy gotten off to now? Oh well. She tucked the phone back into her pocket for the time being and went back over to her desk. She had no idea if he was going to prefer to stand or sit, but figured that in case he chose the latter, she should move her chair out away from the desk a bit so he could sit comfortably. While she was doing this, her back turned away from the window, Jimin heard a sudden knocking sound against glass that made her jump considerably in alarm. What in the world!? Her first thought was that a bird or something must had flown into the window, but that was silly. Why would that happen? Jimin turned around and was just as startled by what she saw as she had been from what she heard just a couple short seconds before.

There was Young Hwa, seemingly struggling to hold himself up on the windowpane while he knocked on the glass. Her eyes widened in alarm as she rushed over to open up the window. Though it was clear by her expression that she was surprised and very likely worried, her words weren't quite as caring. "Oppa! What are you doing? I told you no one was home. There's this magic device called a door, you should learn to use it," she scolded. Huffing a little, she held her hand out for him to take just in case he wound up needing assistance in getting through the now-open window.

It was a good thing Young Hwa exercised often: if he had any less muscle in his arms, he probably would not have been able to get up from that window ledge — no, actually that wasn’t true. He was a very determined lad; if there was something Young Hwa decided he wanted, he didn’t stop working towards it until it was attained — no matter how many walls he had to climb. Now that he had decided he wanted Jimin to like him, he was not going to give up until he got her to reciprocate his affection (at this point, he may or may not have been fully aware of what a struggle that would prove to be).

Nonetheless, he kept his face relaxed (to mask how much stress the rest of his muscles were in) and tried to peer over the window ledge into the room. Mere seconds passed before a figure behind the glass barrier jumped and stalled before approaching the window, as Young Hwa’s grin unwinded, to push it aside. As soon as Jimin’s lovely face came into view, he felt his teenage heart leap with joy. For Young Hwa, this translated into a smirk spreading across his face from cheek to cheek: ”It’s nice to see you too, Jimin-ah~” His voice carried a song-like melody and no obvious acknowledgement of her light-hearted jab.

To be honest, Young Hwa hadn’t intended to show off, but for some reason (that he couldn’t possibly have had anything to do with) life handed him so many opportunities to do it. After Jimin had parted the window and Young Hwa had taken a moment to soak in her radiant features, he broke eye contact to focus on getting himself up to a safer position. The muscles in his arms bulged as he hoisted himself up to the window sill, walking up the wall under them until his waist rose above the ledge. He didn’t reach for her help, but once he was sitting halfway with one long leg inside her room, he paused to take her hand and gently pull it to his lips for a kiss, flashing her his iconic playfully satisfied smirk afterwards.

Before she could swat at him, Young Hwa turned and dipped into her room, making sure to avoid hitting his head on the partially open window. He was tall for his age, just a few inches shy of six feet and already taller than his uncle Min Ki (although, to be fair, that wasn’t much of an challenge). His eyes scanned the room before he recalled her comment, that he could have used the door because no one was home. ”I forgot,” he admitted. Or maybe he just wanted to exercise his parkour skill, or use it to impress her — either way, he was more interested in the bedroom she’d allowed him into, which he had never seen before. This was the first time Jimin had invited him up there — because of her father, Young Hwa was sure — so everything about it caught his attention, and compelled him to look around.

Everything in the room, from the furniture to the bed covers, seemed very Jimin, which caused Young Hwa’s lips to curl up. One wall in particular that drew his attention was covered in artwork. ”These all by you?” he asked as he stepped closer, without any more permission than he’d had to look at the rest of her room.
